Getting a pedicure is easily one of the best ways to pamper yourself and treat your feet to a pampering session to make them feel relaxed. While at-salon pedicures give us all kinds of luxury and relaxing feels, they don’t necessarily go well with our pockets, especially if we are tight on the budget. Being on a money crunch just makes it impossible for anyone to get a pedicure at a salon regularly. But you can’t let this factor come in the way of you pampering yourself and your feet. While salon visits might cost you a large sum of money, doing your pedicure at home would hardly cost you anything, and you would still be able to get a salon-like pedicure right in the comfort of your home? Isn’t that so amazing?
To be able to do treat yourself to a salon-like pedicure, all you will need to do is gather some supplies, put on your favorite and soothing music in the background, and set everything up to start the procedure. We have created a step-by-step guide for you on how to do a salon-like pedicure at home.
Step 1: Prep your nails
The first step of this process is to prep your nails for the pedicure, and that involves removing old nail paint from the nails using a nail paint remover. Look for nail paint remover that doesn’t dry out your nails and also helps in getting rid of old nail paint easily. Take a cotton pad, pour some remover on it, and place it on the top of your nail for a few seconds. The acetone in the remover would work towards breaking down the nail polish, making it easier to remove the paint from the nails.
Step 2: Dip your feet in a tub
This is the most relaxing step in this entire procedure, and for that, you will need a huge tub and shower gel. The tub should be big enough to have room for both your feet, fill it in with warm water and then dip your feet in. The hotter the water, the better. Just make sure that it’s not burning hot, and if in case it is, you can pour some cold water into it. After that, take your shower gel and add a little amount of it into the water to create a soapy solution. Let your feet rest in the water for about 5 minutes to soften the skin and cuticles.
Step 3: Scrub your feet
Scrubbing is a very crucial step in this procedure, especially if you have tanned feet. It would allow you to exfoliate your feet and remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. If you don’t have a foot scrub, your face scrub would work fine too. Once you are done scrubbing the feet for about 5 minutes, diverting extra attention to the soles and heels, you can rinse them with water. Follow it by rubbing a pumice stone on the base of your feet; it will help in eliminating hardened dead skin cells from the heels and side of your toes.
Step 4: Trimming and shaping of nails
Before you start shaping your nails, make sure to trim your nails using a nail clipper in the desired length. And once you are done with that, you can shape them in whichever way you desire. Also, if your nails have any discoloration, buffing them would help to fix the problem.
Step 5: Give your feet a relaxing massage
A nice massage not only helps in making your feet feel relaxed but also makes them look healthier due to increased blood circulation. You can use any foot cream or your favorite body lotion to massage your feet, toes, and calves. Do it for about 5 to 8 minutes, and you will be good to go.
Step 6: Apply your favorite nail polish
The last and final step is to apply a coat of your favorite nail polish on the nails. But before you do that, make sure to clean your nails using a cotton pad soaked in rubbing alcohol. It would help in getting rid of oil residue left behind by the lotion that can prevent the nail polish from sticking on your nails. Follow it with a base coat, and then apply two coats of nail paint on each nail, followed by a top coat. Allow your nails to dry, and you will be good to go.
